I have been waiting for a while for our library to have this book. I heard great things about and couldn't wait to read it. It was definitely worth the wait!
This book is abour a young child that enters into heaven while his is in surgery. He comes back with wonderful details about heaven, people that he was related to, but never met or even knew of them before he went to heaven, and what angels look like. To read his understand and description of heaven is delightful, funny and sweet. He explains things so simply.
This book warmed my heart and I recommmend it to everyone, even my nonbelieving friends. I loved it so much that I bought my own copy.

| Heavenly! | July 12, 2011 |

Forever the skeptic, I wonder how much prior knowledge the boy had being brought up by a pastor, and also who keeps the profit on the book. Having said that, the book seems to line up a lot with concepts taught in the LDS religion with the exception of heavenly beings having wings. It could very well be a true account. It was interesting, and a quick read. It makes one think about the after-life and what it is like. I'll bet it is Heavenly.

Heaven is For Real: One Event Can Change Everything
Heaven is for Real, written by Todd Burpo, is the true story of a six year old boy, who had a remarkable experience while undergoing a life saving surgery. Colton Burpo was just a normal four year old boy when one day, while he and his family were on vacation, he became very sick and had to have an emergency surgery to save his life. Two years later, Colton’s life has returned to normal and their family decides to take their first vacation since Colton became ill. While passing the hospital where only two years before Colton lived, he mentions the fact that angels came to him while he was in surgery. Thinking little of it, his parents, Todd and Sonya Burpo, pass it off as nothing other than a little boy making up stories. As the years go on, Colton’s story comes out and his family begins to realize that during the surgery, Colton traveled to Heaven and back.
Most important to the story is Colton Burpo who innocently describes his encounters with Jesus, lost relatives, and family members he did not know he had. Read more..

I found this book amazing. I think Colton was a very brave little boy. His appendix exploded and he had to have more then one surgery and he is only three years old. Other kids his age would have been very whiny, but Colton was very strong. He always brings up Jesus in every sentence he says. I would recommend this book to a friend because it's a true story and it is truly amazing. It is about a little boy who, while having a surgery, died and rose to heaven and then came back. I think that anyone would find this book interesting.

I found this book to be truly astounding! The book is about a 4 year old boy named Colton, who takes a trip to Heaven and back. Colton explains his trip to his father throughout the book. There were so many things he explained about his trip. One of the most fascinating things he said to his father was, "Everybody in Heaven has wings!" and the father said "did you?", and Colton said "yes", but Jesus did not. Colton said that Jesus did not have wings, and that he floated up and down like an elevator. When I read that part, I just thought to myself "WOW". I found that after reading this book, I have a better understanding of Jesus, and what he went through. This is definitely the number one book on the list of books I have read. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend because the book is very touching, and is a great book for ages 9-65. I am very happy that I picked "Heaven is for Real."

Engaging story told from a father's perspective about his 3-year old son who actually went to heaven and returned to tell about it. Glimpses of heaven are revealed in a candid way as the young boy tells of things he would not have known about otherwise. Quite uplifting.

| Moving Book | July 07, 2011 |
| By: jer | Provo, Utah (US) | |
This book is about a near death experience the son of the author has during a protracted illness. The portion of the book dealing with the illness is very moving. Later chapters deal more with different aspects of heaven that the author finds from talking to his son in the subsequent months. The book seems to lose momentum as we leave the hospital scenes and focus of conversations that occurred over the course of years.

Todd Burpo tells the story of his three-year-old son, Colton, who, during an illness, went to Heaven and returned to mortality. Colton describes what he saw and felt in Heaven--Jesus, angels, how God loves us, etc.
I enjoyed this book. It had some interesting insights. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in life after death.

Awesome book! Tells of a three-year-old child with an out of body experience -- he goes to heaven and tells his family things he would have no knowledge of. The author is the father and a minister and compares what his son says to what the Bible says about heaven.
