How difficult is it to implement the ChiliFresh Review Engine?

It is very easy... in fact you simply grab a snippet of code that is provided in your Admin Panel,  insert it into your configuration files and the review content will appear in your online catalog.  Then you can change the colors and font sizes to match the look and feel of your catalog.

Will it slow down my online catalog system?

No.  Because the data is served on a remote server, the function of displaying and posting reviews on your web site will not affect the speed of your online catalog.

Do all the locations or libraries that share our catalog need to implement it?

 No.  You can determine which locations and/or branches that display patron reviews in your catalog.  This is all determined by the settings that you choose in the ChiliFresh Admin Panel.

Why do the Reviewers have to register with their email address?

Because the ChiliFresh Review Engine is based on a collaborative database of reviews entered by patrons from all over the USA (and ultimately the world), it is necessary for each Reviewer to register with unique email addresses and nicknames. This is a necessary requirement in order to provide the necessary reports and controls that determine where the review is posted from.

What happens with their email addresses? What about privacy, security and SPAM?

The email address is ONLY collected to maintain a unique record for each Reviewer and it is the only way that the system can reset a Reviewers password in the case where it may have been forgotten.

Where are the reviews stored?

The entire review database is stored on remote servers.  This allows you to not worry about bandwidth, security, backup, redundancy and all of the other issues that attend an online collaborative database such as this.

Why must we allow pop-ups?

In order for the ChiliFresh Review Engine to be compatible with every online catalog system, we had to use a standard that is independent of the catalog itself.  The methods we use to display Review content in your catalog and the resulting pop-up will not only work flawlessly with any ILS’s online catalog system, but will match completely in its look and feel.

What about abuses?

Because the reviews written by patrons are just that... “written by patrons”, there is always a risk that inappropriate content could be written.  Each library has the ability to set their system to be a moderated system.  With this setting turned on in your Admin Panel, you must “approve” each review written BEFORE it will appear in your catalog.  AND because you can display reviews written by patrons of other libraries, you can be confident that if you have your Review Engine set to be a moderated system, your catalog will ONLY display reviews that have been moderated by other libraries.

How can my Director and parents know that the reviews will be OK?

Because you can set your Review Engine to only display moderated reviews, you can know that each review has been looked at and approved for display.  If you find a review that was entered and approved by another library and you feel it is NOT at the standards of your library, then you can “suppress” that review from appearing in your catalog.  This gives you complete flexibility to display what is appropriate and what is not.

Will it work with any ILS online catalog?

Currently we have developed the integration for most of the major ILS online catalog systems.  However, we will develop an integration method for every ILS system over the next few months.  If you don’t use a system that we currently support and would like to have reviews in your online catalog, feel free to send a note telling us what ILS your library uses and we will develop an integration for the ChiliFresh Review Engine for your library.

Who owns the reviews?

Every review entered from your catalog is the property of both your library system and ChiliFresh Enterprises, Inc.  What this means is that if you ever want to discontinue the use of the ChiliFresh Review Engine, we will provide you with a copy of all the reviews that were entered from your catalog.  But because the ChiliFresh Review Engine is a collaborative database of reviews, ChiliFresh will retain a copy of your reviews in its database because other library systems are relying on the reviews entered from your catalog.

Can we add a use/posting policy?

One of the greatest advantages of the ChiliFresh Review Engine is that you can make it YOUR system.  If you have a specific Review Posting Policy that your patrons must agree to before posting reviews... you can create such a policy and enter it into your Admin Panel.  Then each patron that wants to post a review will be presented with your specific policy and must agree to it in order to post.

Can we try ChiliFresh Review Engine on our test server to see how it looks and functions BEFORE we commit to it?

Absolutely!  We would encourage you to grab the necessary code, paste it into your config files and put it up on your test server.  That way, you can show the ChiliFresh Review Engine to your Director, Staff and (if necessary) your Board.  After you see how easy it is to implement, how flexible the system is and just how cost-effective the ChiliFresh Review Engine is, it becomes an easy decision to go live.
